DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Whiskey Festival took place this weekend, giving the community the opportunity to taste whiskey’s from around the country.
The event kicked off on the 25th with a dinner benefiting the Young Women’s Resource Center. A nonprofit that educates and advocates for young women in the Des Moines area. The various programs help shape women into confident, strong individuals and community leaders.
The festivities continued on the 26th with a lineup of over 55 different wine tastings. The lineup included renowned distilleries from around the country and right here in Iowa.
“We’re thrilled to bring the Des Moines Whiskey Festival back to the Horizon Event Center,” said Edgar Ortiz, organizer of the festival. “This event is not only a celebration of whiskey but also a chance to come together as a community to support a worthy cause.”
While people explore the event, they were encouraged to learn more about whiskey culture and rendering during the expert-led masterclasses. There was a variety of gourmet food options to complement certain whiskey selections.
For their sixth year of the event the festival wanted to up the fun. Roulette, craps tables, and more were all available for people to partake in. Live performances from a variety of artists, including artist Lauren Vilmain, occurred throughout the event.
This all-day celebration is designed for both whiskey aficionados and newcomers alike, offering something for everyone.
