WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — A celebration of life has been scheduled for Iowa Senator Claire Celsi, who passed away last week at the age of 59 after a battle with an undisclosed illness.
Celsi, a Democrat, was serving her second term as an Iowa Senator at the time of her death on October 6th. She represented District 16, which includes the areas of Clive, West Des Moines, and Windsor Heights. Celsi was first elected to the Iowa Senate in 2018, serving District 21.
The celebration of life is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on October 25th at Valley High School’s cafeteria in West Des Moines, according to her obituary.
A special election has been set for December 30 to fill Celsi’s seat in Iowa’s 16th Senate District.
