DES MOINES, Iowa — Connor Umscheid has trained for months and raised over $1,700 dollars for the Folds of Honor Iowa Ruck of Remembrance.
The Folds of Honor Iowa Ruck of Remembrance is planned for Saturday, October 11 at Jordan Creek Mall. At the event, participants will ruck a 5, 10, and 20 kilometer distance.
Connor Umscheid said he is raising money because he likes to help people.
“I really like helping people, and I just really wanted to give the money to the veterans and the first responders and all those people,” Umscheid said.
Brandon Umscheid, Conner’s Father, said that he is proud of his son.
“He’s got that community spirit, right. Wants to help the community make the community better, do great things in the community to help people. So it’s just, it’s a super proud parent moment. We couldn’t be any more proud of what he’s doing,” Umscheid said.
Funds raised from the event go to Folds of Honor Iowa, an organization that provides educational scholarships to the children and spouses of Iowa’s military service members and first responders who have fallen or been disabled while serving in the United States Armed Forces or as a first responder.
