Celebrating Traditions & Hispanic Culture

DES MOINES, Iowa — WHO 13’s Cinthia Naranjo, Adriana Torres and Samantha Mesa honored and celebrated Hispanic Heritage Month during a half-hour special.

Hispanic Heritage runs from September 15 through October 15. It coincides with the Independence days of several Latin American countries and Mexico.

The month-long celebration started out as a week in 1968. President Lyndon B. Johnson signed a proclamation. Twenty years later, Ronald Regan extended it to a month.
