Forecast: Rain and fall-like temps ahead

DES MOINES, Iowa — It’s been a warm and breezy Saturday, and we have another one ahead on Sunday before we move back into autumn weather.

Winds will again gust to around 30 mph Sunday afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will start to kick off rain chances by late afternoon.

The best rain chance for central Iowa appear to come from early evening Sunday to early evening Monday. A few showers may linger in the southeast early Tuesday morning.

Rainfall estimates through Tuesday are shown above. Tiny chances will return Thursday through Saturday.

A change is coming to high temperatures, as shown in the slideshow above. Seven-day forecasts are below. Even with the cooldown ahead, it appears highs will stay above-average for the most part.
