DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department say one person is in custody after a narcotics-related investigation turned into a police pursuit.
According to the DMPD, their Narcotics Control Section were in the area of 17th Street and University Avenue following up on a complaint alleging illegal narcotics activity. Shortly after 4 p.m., DMPD investigators requested patrol officers to conduct a traffic stop of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Police say the driver refused to stop and led officers on a pursuit.
The chase lasted approximately 10 minutes before officers ended the pursuit using a PIT maneuver in the 4400 block of Franklin Avenue. Otis Crayton, 25, was taken into custody without incident. The DMPD says charges are pending as the investigation continues.
