MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — A suspect police say was on the run after allegedly shooting two people in Marshalltown over the weekend was arrested late Monday night.

On Saturday at around 7:47 p.m., the Marshalltown Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 block of East Main Street. When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered two people suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were initially transported to local hospitals. One of the victims was released shortly after, while the second victim was transported to an out-of-county medical center. The second victim’s condition has not been released.

At the time, the Marshalltown Police Department announced that investigators believed the shooting was a targeted attack and that the alleged shooter was still at-large, armed and dangerous.

The day after the shooting the MPD announced that it had obtained warrants for the arrest of 69-year-old Dewey Perdue for his alleged involvement in the shooting. The warrants are for the following charges:

• Attempted Murder – two counts
• Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury
• Willful Injury Causing Bodily Injury
• Going Armed with Intent

According to court records, Perdue allegedly shot the victims multiple times after an argument broke out between them.

On Tuesday, the MPD said that Perdue had been taken into custody in Polk County late Monday night. Perdue has since been booked into the Marshall County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 3.
