CASS COUNTY, Iowa — The driver of a car traveling the wrong way on a Cass County highway collided head-on with a semi overnight, the Iowa State Patrol said.
At around 11:39 p.m. Tuesday, emergency crews responded to a report of a crash on Highway 71 near the intersection with Fayette Road, just northeast of Atlantic. According to an Iowa State Patrol crash report, a Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of the highway when it collided head-on with a semi.
The crash report states that the driver of the Cobalt, who remains unidentified, died at the scene. The semi driver was not injured.
No additional information has been released.
