Adventurland’s newest haunted house to debut this weekend at Phantom Fall Fest

ALTOONA, Iowa — Iowa’s largest Halloween event returns this weekend when Phantom Fall Fest kicks off at Adventurland, and a new haunted house is debuting.

The Spell Keeper is now the fifth haunted house at the theme park. It took eight months to create, and over a dozen scare actors are in his house alone.

Mike Lusky, the general manager of Adventureland, says this is the scariest haunted attraction at the park.

Several special effects amplify the experience inside the Spell Keeper, including loud music, smoke machines, flashing lights, and bursts of air.

The scare actors are also in full character with costumes and spooky makeup. Every day of the Phantom Fall Fest, all 100 scare actors will walk down the theme park’s Main Street as they head to their spots.

Creators of the haunted house even included some easter eggs in the Spell Keeper that they say true Adventurland fans will be interested in.

Spooky food will also be available at the theme park. A new Halloween-themed spot named Doc’s Gone Mad will be serving Jell-O shot syringes, blood bag wine, and skull mugs.

Guests can also indulge in seasonal sweets, including pumpkin spice donuts, vampire blood floats, monster peanut butter cup sundaes, and more. A full menu of fall-inspired treats will be available throughout the park day and night.

Phantom Fall Fest kicks off on Saturday, September 20th, and goes until Sunda,y October 26th.

Every Saturday, the park will be open from noon until 10 p.m., and it will be open on Sundays from noon until 9 p.m.

Family activities will be available during the daylight from noon until 5p.m. This includes activities like trick or treating, costume contests, pumpkin painting, scary-oke, bubble dance parties, and scream contests.

When the sun sets, the five haunted houses and four scare zones will open.

Tickets are available on Adventureland’s website.
