MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — One person died in a rollover accident on Highway 30 in Marshalltown on Wednesday afternoon.
The Marshalltown Police Department said the accident happened around 1:24 p.m. just west of S. 18th Street. The driver, the only occupant of an eastbound pickup truck, lost control while trying to brake for a slow-moving truck pulling a gravity wagon. The pickup crossed into the median and rolled, coming to rest in the westbound lanes of Highway 20.
MPD said the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. Their name has not been released.
No other injuries were reported as a result of the accident.
The westbound lanes of Highway 30 were shut down for about three hours due to the crash and were reopened around 4:40 p.m., according to information from the Iowa DOT.
The investigation into the crash continues.
