Des Moines man arrested for alleged assault at anti-Trump protest

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting a woman at a political protest earlier this month and destroying protesters’ signs.

Bradley Nall, 68, is charged with assault and criminal mischief-5th degree, both simple misdemeanors, according to Sgt. Paul Parizek, Public Information Officer for the Des Moines Police Department.

The charges stem from an August 12 anti-Trump protest on the 56th Street bridge over I-235 in Des Moines. Sgt. Parizek said evidence, including video of the incident, led to Nall’s arrest.

Police said Nall stopped his vehicle on the bridge, climbed over the railing to access the sidewalk, and approached the protesters aggressively with the intent to tear down the signs displayed on the fencing.

The video shows Nall ripping the signs off the fence and, in the process, striking two of the protesters. The signs spelled out “TRUMP=HITLER”.

Sgt. Parizek said Nall was released on citations to appear in court.
