Cold windblown April showers will move through Iowa during the day today and transition to some storms and heavier rain overnight with a dynamic weather system moving through the Upper Midwest today.

The showers during the day will not be severe, but wind gusts will be very strong. We could have some gusts that reach 40 mph.

There is a Slight Risk for severe storms, primarily along the Missouri border late tonight. There is a risk for a few storms to produce hail or damaging winds. A Marginal Risk extends north into Iowa.


The strongest storms will lift into southern and western Iowa after 10 PM. A steady heavy rain will fall across Central Iowa overnight. Again, the storms most likely to produce severe elements will be south of Creston and Chariton.

We will see right on either side of 1″ falling with the rain that moves through overnight.
