DES MOINES, Iowa — Canoyer Garden Center in Grimes has been preparing for spring plant sales since January by planting seeds in its greenhouse.
Rita Tresslar, a Custom Container Designer at Canoyer Garden Center, said it takes multiple people planting non stop to get all the plants ready.
“We have so much going on next door in our grow houses where seven or eight people are over there planting all day long and thousands and thousands of perennials, annuals and garden. Your garden needs all your veggies and things like that.”
Tresslar said Mother’s Day is when most of the plants grown now will be sold.
“Our biggest weekend is probably Mother’s Day weekend, and that’s when we try to encourage all of our customers to plant, take their baskets home,” Tresslar said.
