K-9 deployment in Watrous Heights, expect police presence

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department says to expect an increased police presence in the Watrous Heights neighborhood while a K-9 deployment is in progress.

According to the DMPD, just before 6 p.m. a K-9, on leash, was deployed in the area of the 300 block of East Miller.

Authorities say the K-9 is conducting a search for a suspect with connections to a vehicle theft investigation.

DMPD officers say there is no ongoing danger to the neighborhood.
