DES MOINES, Iowa — Sunday March 9th was Fong’s Pizza’s 4th street location’s last day open. In February the owners of Fong’s announced they were moving to East Village.
The iconic downtown Des Moines Restaurant will move to the East Village Neighborhood filling the space that Peace Tree Brewing used to have. The community has been largely supportive of the move.
Dennis Epps, the Co-owner of Fong’s Pizza and Executive Chef, said that leaving the 4th street location is bitter sweet.
“It’s bittersweet, you know, Fourth Street is, it’s a unique little little neighborhood. A little area.- You know, I’ve I’ve lived down here, you know, for 20, 25 years. So for me, this is, you know, my neighborhood. But to to say it’s nostalgia it’s tough. But I also know I’ve been over at the new place every day getting it ready and it’s it’s going to be exciting.” Epps said.
Fong’s Pizza’s new location will feature patio space and an expanded menu.
The new location is expected to open at the end of the month.
