As promised, we’ve got a great Sunday in progress after we burned off some morning fog. We may see a little fog around again Sunday night before temperatures fall on a cooler, breezy Monday. Your weather timeline has the details:

Lows tonight will bottom out in the mid-30’s for most. The kiddos will need to dress more warmly for school this week than they did on Sunday!

Monday will be a breezy day as that colder air begins its return to Iowa. Expect gusts near 30mph in the afternoon and evening.

Tuesday starts off by reminding us that it’s still February in Iowa, with subzero wind chills north of I-80 to start the day:

We’ve got two chances for mixed precipitation this week. Wednesday looks to bring us a little light rain and freezing rain, and maybe a few snowflakes. Saturday’s system looks to add more snow to the mix. We’ll keep you updated!

The extended forecast trend appears to give us colder-than-average temps and above-average precipitation chances into the middle of February, as seen below:

We’re lacking snow cover in the upper Midwest, which is unusual for this time of year. It appears we’ll see increased chances intermittently through February 15.

The European ensemble computer model members hint at a tiny snow chance Wednesday, with better chances Saturday and Valentine’s Day.
