DMPD requests help locating missing, endangered man

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department is requesting the public’s help in locating a missing and endangered man.

Gary Batten, 76, was last seen driving around in the area of 63rd Street and Woodland Avenue at around 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday. According to DMPD, Batten has not returned home and his phone is turned off.

The DMPD said Batten has health issues that could make it hard for him to find his way back home.

Batten is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 210 lbs. He was last seen driving a blue 2014 Nissan Versa with Iowa license plate number PBP 916.

Anyone with information about Batten’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.
