FORT DODGE, Iowa — A Fort Dodge woman has been accused of intentionally setting a residence on fire over the weekend.

On Sunday at around 1:41 p.m. the Fort Dodge fire and police departments responded to a report of a structure fire in the 200 block of North 12th Street. When first responders arrived at the scene they found a fire on the second floor of the residence.

Firefighters were able to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the building. The Fort Dodge Police Department said the building was occupied when the fire started, but no injuries occurred.

According to the police department, the cause of the fire appeared to be suspicious and as the investigation progressed it was determined that the fire was started intentionally.

Megan S. Freeman, 34, was arrested and charged in connection to the fire. Freeman has been charged with first-degree arson, third-degree arson, and first-degree harassment. She is currently being held at the Webster County Jail on a $29,000 cash-only bond.
