Waukee moving trick-or-treating to Halloween night

WAUKEE, Iowa — The Waukee City Council has decided to move the night of trick-or-treating to Halloween night.

At a meeting Monday night the city council approved moving trick-or-treating to Halloween night permanently. The change starts this year with trick-or-treating in Waukee taking place on Friday, October 31.

The decision comes after a community survey sent out by the city asked residents to choose which night they preferred to go trick-or-treating. According to the city, over 1,200 people responded, with the majority favoring Halloween night over Beggars Night.

Multiple metro communities have either already changed or are considering changing the night when trick-or-treating is celebrated.
