Norris ‘cannot comment’ after Polk County placed him on administrative leave

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Polk County Board of Supervisors confirmed with WHO 13 News that Polk County Administrator John Norris was placed on administrative leave on Friday.

Jonathan Cahill, a communications specialist with the board said he couldn’t comment further due to it being a personnel matter.

WHO 13 News reached out to John Norris and he also said he can’t comment about the administrative leave at this time.

Norris is a former chair of the Iowa Democratic party, a campaign manager for several presidential campaigns and a former gubernatorial candidate in Iowa. In his current role Norris helps with budgeting at the county level.

Norris’ leave of absence comes as Polk County Supervisor Matt McCoy was voted to chair the board, and new members joined the ranks in the role of supervisor.
