DES MOINES – On Friday, December 13th the WHO 13 News Team is working with the Salvation Army to raise money for its annual Red Kettle Campaign fundraiser.
Members of the WHO 13 News Team will be ringing bells from 10am to 8pm at Scheels in West Des Moines and Walmart in Ankeny.
The Salvation Army’s goal is to raise $1.2 million during the Red Kettle Campaign. Currently it has raised just under $500,000.
Chrissy Brabrandt, a Board Member for the Salvation Army Des Moines, said that the donations raised during the Red Kettle Campaign go to support programs year round.
“a lot of people know us as, you know, the Red kettle organization, if you will, but Salvation Army does so much more than that. We’re all encompassing of all kinds of different services, be it food insecurities for people who maybe are having a tough time, homelessness, rent, insecurities, disaster relief.” Brabrandt said.
The Salvation Army is also looking for volunteers to ring bells this holiday season. You can sign up to ring bells at registertoring.com
