No injuries reported in 4 vehicle accident on I-35/80 that slowed morning commute

CLIVE, IOWA — A four-vehicle crash that slowed traffic to a crawl on Interstate 35/80 on Friday morning is under investigation but thankfully, police say, there were no serious injuries.

The crash happened just before 6:00 am in the northbound lanes of the interstate at the University Avenue exit. Clive police say a semi hit the center barrier on the interstate and then spun across the traffic lanes before coming to a rest and blocking traffic from entering the interstate at University.

A total of four vehicles, described as two commercial vehicles and two passenger cars by authorities, were involved. None of the four drivers suffered serious injuries.

In a news release, Clive Police Chief Mark Rehberg said: “It is important to remember that this is, and will remain, an active construction zone through the winter. We ask that drivers travel in the area at safe speeds, remain aware of their surroundings and take weather conditions into consideration, as we move further into the winter months.”

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
