Scholastic Spotlight: International award-winning Waukee associate and Team Frostbye update

Our two spotlights show how Central Iowa schools have staff and students shooting for the stars and winning awards with huge international and out-of-this-world achievements.

Our first spotlight focuses on R Reghupathi Pai, a Waukee Associate who works one-on-one with special needs students at Waukee. You can see his connection with students and the great friendship he has with fellow staff at Waukee High School. But when he is not at school, he is an award-winning music director. R Reghupathi Pai recently learned he earned a South Indian Award for Music Director, for music he composed for an album and movie. He continues to work with cinematic and musical peers in India during the evenings after school and has a thriving business training students in the US virtually in Indian music. The passion and achievements of R Reghupathi Pai is our first Scholastic Spotlight this week.

You can listen to and watch the musical and creative talents of R Reghupathi Pai in these YouTube Clips featuring his music:

Our second spotlight is an update on Team Frostbyte from North High School. The team is again taking part in the NASA App Challenge and researching and preparing an app to visualize Artemis II, which will be landing a crew on Mars. The team is bigger this year with additional teammates from Roosevelt and Des Moines’ Virtual Public School program. They’ve been working with scientists and engineers at NASA and will soon find out if they’ll earn the honor to make a trip to Johnson Space Center in Houston. They are our second Scholastic Spotlight this week.
