PLEASANT HILL, Iowa — ThriveNow Recovery Center is holding a grand opening for its new Pleasant Hill location on Monday.
ThriveNow focuses on providing treatment for people struggling with substance abuse issues. The new Pleasant Hill facility is located at 6132 NE 12th Ave. Pleasant Hill.
The grand opening starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 2 p.m. and will feature facility tours, guest speakers, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Brock Milligan, the Senior Development & Community Relations Specialist at ThriveNow Recovery Centers, said that the recovery center will help fill a shortage of medical detox beds in Des Moines.
“Des Moines has never had a designated detox facility, and there are actually less detox beds in Des Moines today than when I went through treatment six years ago, which is crazy because medical detox is critical for your health. It’s very dangerous to do without medical supervision, especially with alcohol. As you can have a seizure, you can have delirium tremens, you can have a stroke and you can die,” Milligan said.
