We began the day above freezing for a change in many areas south of Interstate 80. While we didn’t get quite as warm as Saturday, we still saw highs well above our average for this date of around 39 degrees. Your weather timeline takes you into a mild but cooler Monday.



Lows tonight will be a little chillier, but the morning and afternoon bus stops won’t be too bad considering its December in Iowa. But the cold is coming.


By late Tuesday evening, we’ll see some snow showers begin to move across central Iowa as another in a series of cold fronts move through. This snow may be enough to cause a slippery commute in some areas on Wednesday morning. In addition, we are looking at single digit wind chills both Wednesday and Thursday mornings. Flurries will continue to be possible on Thursday.



We warm up a bit on Friday, and by Saturday another system will bring a chance of rain to the state.
