INDIANOLA, Iowa — If you and your family are looking for some reindeer games this holiday season, one Indianola woman has you covered.
Nancy Mckasson has a tribute to the classic 1964 film ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer’ in her front yard.

She’s made more than thirty characters, like reindeers Rudolph and Clarice, Hermey the elf and Bumble the abominable snowman, by projecting their images onto plywood, tracing them, and cutting them out using a jigsaw- which she taught herself to use! After several coats of paint and thousands of lights, the display has come to life on her front lawn.
All of it in an ode to her favorite tradition.
“First of all, I love Rudolph. I don’t think I’ve ever missed a year watching it takes me back to my childhood, which is why I did it also for my grandkids,” she told WHO 13’s Katie Kaplan. “I did nine of them in 2020 during COVID, and then after I retired, I did the other 22 characters.”
Mckasson invites you to stop by Euclid and 5th Street in Indianola to see Rudolph and his friends. You can also catch the classic movie on NBC at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
