GRINNELL, Iowa — Traffic flowed at a steady pace, even slowing to a stop at points east of the metro due to all the cars. Despite all that, people kept their spirits up traveling along I-80 and I-35 to see family and friends.
“We’re heading south to Springhill, Kansas, south of Kansas City and we’re gonna stay with our, Elizabeth’s, niece and her husband and family and some other members of the family will be there with us,” said David Rodgers of Plymouth, MN.
“My older sister will be there as well and we’re very close so I’m looking forward to having some time with her,” said Elizabeth Rogers. “We have two wonderful children. One is in New York City doing residency, so he couldn’t be with us and our daughter and her family are actually in California.”
“My Thanksgiving will be spent with my son and his wife and three grandchildren and it’ll be wonderful,” said Jean Moffitt, of Johnston. “It’ll be fun and the new one is a month old.”
“We’re going to see our daughter’s doctor in Iowa City,” said Chelsea Hartman, of Braddyville. “She fell in a fire in May 2023 and then we’re gonna go to my mom‘s house in Cedar Rapids”.
“Going over to be with my daughter and her family and I’m just gonna spend a couple of days and have a good family time,” said Ken Cooper of Nebraska, who was heading to Chicago.
