FORT DODGE, Iowa — A building sustained heavy fire damage in Fort Dodge Tuesday night.
According to the Fort Dodge Messenger, at around 9:40 p.m. firefighters with Fort Dodge Fire Rescue responded to a report of a fire at 7 S 11th Street. When firefighters arrived on scene they saw flames coming from the second-floor windows.
Fort Dodge Fire Rescue activated a third alarm, bringing in off-duty firefighters to assist in the search for people inside the building and for any fire extension.
This is the second fire in the area in just over a week. On Sunday, November 17 Fort Dodge Fire Rescue and other agencies responded to an apartment fire at 1107 Central Avenue, which is next door to 7 S 11th Street.
Twelve residents were displaced and six people were injured in the apartment fire. No injuries were reported in Tuesday night’s fire, Fort Dodge Fire Rescue said.
The building sustained heavy fire damage on the second floor and smoke damage on the third floor.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
