CALHOUN COUNTY, Iowa — The man accused of killing a Farnhamville teenager back in September will go on trial next summer.
Nathaniel Bevers-McGivney, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse in the death of 17-year-old Michele “Luna” Jackson.
He has pleaded not guilty in the case and waived his right to a speedy trial earlier this month.
A trial scheduling conference was held Monday to determine a new date for Bevers-McGivney’s trial and July 8, 2025 was chosen. His original trial was scheduled to begin on November 19th.
According to trial information filed in the case, prosecutors accuse Bevers-McGivney of cutting the victim’s throat with a knife and stabbing her multiple times on September 22nd. They say the acts were premeditated with the intent to kill. Prosecutors also accuse Bevers-McGivney of hiding the victim’s body in an attempt to conceal the crime and failing to disclose the location of her body.
Jackson’s body was discovered on September 23rd in Farnhamville.
