FORT DODGE, Iowa — A Fort Dodge man has been found guilty in the murder of a 14-year-old.

Isaac Bachman, 20, was charged with first-degree murder in the June 19, 2023 death of Dakari James. Police say James was shot multiple times in the 1200 block of 1st Av N. He later died of his injuries at the hospital.

Bachman’s attorneys claimed the shooting was in self-defense, but on Wednesday a jury convicted him of the murder.

The mandatory sentence for first-degree murder in Iowa is life in prison without the possibility of parole. Bachman’s sentencing is scheduled for December 6^th.
