IDA COUNTY, Iowa — A northwest Iowa man is dead and two children were injured after a pickup truck crashed into a semi pulling a grain trailer Wednesday night on a rural Ida County road.
A crash report from the Iowa State Patrol said the collision happened around 6:02 p.m. near the intersection of Carriage Ave. and 230th St. That’s about eight miles northwest of Ida Grove.
The ISP said a semi hauling a grain trailer was traveling north on Carriage Ave. and slowing down to turn west on 230th St. when it was rear-ended by a northbound Chevy 1500 pickup truck.
The driver of the pickup truck, 29-year-old Joshua Fowler of Holstein was entrapped, and the report said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two juvenile females in the pickup were injured and one was transported by air ambulance to MercyOne in Sioux City and the other was transported by ambulance to Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove. The extent of their injuries was not listed in the report.
The ISP report did not list any injuries for the driver of the semi-truck, 74-year-old Donald Schultz of Battle Creek.
The investigation into the crash continues.
