DES MOINES, Iowa — Polk County is hosting a ribbon cutting Wednesday for a new substance abuse and mental health treatment center.
The Life Services Center will officially open at 11:00 a.m. with the help of a number of elected officials. The new center was made possible by a partnership between Polk County, the City of Des Moines, Broadlawns, and St. Vincent De Paul.
It offers help for people suffering from substance abuse and an alternative for care for patients experiencing a mental health crisis who might have previously been transported to an emergency room or incarcerated.
The new Life Services Center is located at 1914 Carpenter Avenue in Des Moines.
