Fort Dodge woman charged for setting house on fire in July

FORT DODGE, Iowa — A Fort Dodge woman was arrested on Thursday in connection to a months-long arson investigation.

On the morning of July 13th, the Fort Dodge Fire Department and Police Department responded to a report of a house fire in the 300 block of South 15th Street. When emergency crews arrived on scene they found a fire inside the home.

According to police, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the basement. All residents inside the home were able to escape and no injuries were reported.

Further investigation revealed that the fire was intentionally started. Police said a woman was seen leaving the area just before smoke was seen coming from the home. That woman was identified as 34-year-old Brianna D. Anderson and a warrant was issued for her arrest.

On Thursday morning Fort Dodge Police said an officer located Anderson near the area of 1st Avenue South and South 12th Street. Anderson was taken into custody without incident. She is currently being held at the Webster County Jail on a $50,000 cash-only bond for one count of first-degree arson.
