A band of snow was expected to form west to east across central Iowa on Saturday. That band set up from Omaha to Carroll, Fort Dodge to Waterloo. There was a sharp gradient to the south and north as expected, quickly down to a dusting towards just north of the Des Moines metro.

The snow blanketed these areas through mid day with completed covered roads and difficult travel north of Des Moines. Here is a look at road conditions mid-morning on Saturday:

Carroll: 4.7″
Iowa Falls: 4.0″
Jewell: 3.5″
Templeton: 3.0″
Fort Dodge: 2.5″
Ames: 2.5″
Gowrie 2.5″

The next chance of snow to impact central Iowa will be on Monday. A weather system from the west will bring light snow across southwest and southern Iowa with up to an inch possible. At this time, Des Moines looks to just receive some flurries.
