Fire at Perry internet provider headquarters causes outages

PERRY, Iowa — A fire at Perry internet provider Bits of Technology Wireless Internet (BTWI) has caused internet outages.

Just after 11:50 a.m., BTWI posted on Facebook saying a fire had engulfed their headquarters, located in the 14000 block of 210th Street.

In the post, they state BTWI has been dealing with outages of services due to the fire and ask customers to “give grace”.

We are doing everything we can to quickly restore services as we deal with this emergency. Everyone is safe and things can be replaced but it will take some time. Thank you for your patience.

According to their website, BTWI provides high speed wireless internet to rural areas across Boone, Butler, Dallas, Greene, Grundy, Guthrie, Madison, and Warren Counties.

The Perry Fire Department, Yale Jamaica Bagley Fire Department, and Dallas County Fire Departments and Medical Services all responded to the fire.

The Perry Fire Department and Dallas County Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
