Apartment fire response closes Ingersoll Avenue in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Iowa — Firefighters are on the scene of an apartment building on Ingersoll Avenue after a fire was reported Thursday morning.

Crews were called to the scene at Ingersoll Ave. and 28th Street around 10:00 a.m. Fire officials on the scene told WHO 13 that there was a small fire in the kitchen of an apartment and they were able to put it out. No one was home at the time of the fire.

Ingersoll Avenue has been shut down in both directions at 28th Street as firefighters conduct operations at the scene according to the Des Moines Police Department. The closure is expected to last about an hour.
