Murder charge added in connection to Ames shooting, killed one person

AMES, Iowa — A suspect previously charged with robbery is now also charged with murder in connection to the January Ames shooting that killed one person.

The shooting occurred on January 18 at the 200 block of South 5th Street in Boone. Ames Police Department officers responded to the scene and found 25-year-old Parker Stoneburger suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.

On January 24, 19-year-old Destiny Skurdal was charged with First-Degree Robbery in connection to the investigation.

According to court documents, Skurdal now faces charges of First-Degree Murder and First-Degree Robbery.

Skurdal is being held at the Story County Jail on a bond of $100,000.

According to police, the investigation into the shooting remains ongoing.
