One killed in Sunday morning crash, Polk County Sheriff investigates

POLK COUNTY, Iowa — One person is dead following a Sunday morning crash on Highway 141, southeast of Granger.

According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, just before 9 a.m. deputies were called to the 12100 block of Highway 141 on reports of a single-car accident.

Deputies arrived on scene and located one vehicle in the west ditch, where it had struck a tree.

The only occupant of the vehicle, an adult female, was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to authorities, the preliminary investigation indicates the vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 141 when the driver lost control and entered the west ditch, striking a tree.

Deputies have opened an investigating into the crash and are gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses in an attempt to determine the cause of the crash.

The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of the family.

This is an ongoing investigation, and information will be released as it becomes available.
