DES MOINES, Iowa — The Iowa State Patrol has arrested two following a police pursuit that took place overnight in east Des Moines.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the pursuit began on East 15th Street just after 1 a.m. and lead officers south before eventually ending near the 1500 block of East Walnut.

Authorities say the pursuit lasted approximately five minutes, with speeds exceeding 100 mph, only ending after the driver lost control of the vehicle.

Two people were arrested following the pursuit.

The Iowa State Patrol has opened an investigation into the incident.
