State of Iowa sued by firefighters with 185th Air Refueling Wing

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Two lawsuits have been filed against the state of Iowa by current and former firefighters with the 185th Air Refueling Wing in Sioux City.

The suits are alleging that the firefighters have been paid at an incorrect pay grade for several years, along with being continually shorted on overtime pay. Both suits say the state of Iowa violated the Fair Labor Standards Act and the Iowa Wage Payment Collection law.

The 32 firefighters in the two lawsuits are requesting a jury trial. They’re seeking a judge’s order to immediately correct their pay raises and a judgment for pay of all unpaid wages, benefits, and overtime.
