NEWTON, Iowa — A Newton student has been taken into custody for allegedly making threats to bring a gun to school.
The Newton Police Department said it was contacted around 4:12 p.m. on Tuesday about a male juvenile who made statements of targeted violence against a specific group while riding a Newton Community School District bus after school. Police also said the student spoke about bringing a gun to school the next day.
Investigators confirmed the statements made by the student and he was taken into custody without incident. He has been charged with Threat of Terrorism, a Class D felony.
The juvenile is being held at Central Iowa Detention in Eldora.
