Hawkeyes’ leading scorer Freeman out for the season

IOWA CITY, IOWA — A tough season for the Iowa Hawkeyes men’s basketball team is about to get even tougher. Coach Fran McCaffery announced on Monday morning that sophomore Owen Freeman will undergo surgery on his hand and will miss the remainder of the season.

Freeman leads the Hawkeyes in points, rebounds and blocks. Freeman is a Moline, Illinois-native.

The Hawkeyes are 13-8 on the season with a 4-6 record in the Big Ten. The Hawkeyes welcome 10th-ranked Purdue to Carver-Hawkeye Arena on Tuesday and 17th-ranked Wisconsin on Saturday.
