MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa — As part of an ongoing investigation the Marshalltown Police Department has arrested a man in relation to a string of burglaries.
According to the Marshalltown Police Department, 42-year-old Matthew Moore has been arrested in connection to four robberies that occurred between November 2024 and January 2025.
The first robbery occurred at 5:10 a.m. on November 4, 2024, at 50 LaFrentz Lane. MPD officers responded to an alarm call and observed the business had been broken into. As part of the investigation, police were able to obtain video surveillance of the suspect.
The second robbery took place on November 25, 2024, around 3:36 a.m. at 1116 Nevada Street. MPD officers responded to the scene and secured video surveillance footage. According to police, the suspect matched the November 4 robbery. The suspect wasn’t able to enter the building in this instance.
The third robbery occurred on November 29, 2024, at 2:29 a.m., MPD responded to 19 West Main Street on reports of an attempted robbery. Police say the reporting party advised the suspect vehicle matched the one from the previous robberies.
The fourth robbery took place on January 7, 2025, MPD responded to 107 East Meadow Lane on reports of a burglary that took place overnight. Items were reported stolen from the residence.
MPD conducted an extensive investigation into the burglaries in Marshalltown, as well as others outside of Marshalltown’s jurisdiction. Authorities say several agencies aided in executing several search warrants at two different Marshalltown locations.
Moore was arrested on January 13 in connection to pair of burglaries targeting American Legions. Moore was arrested on outstanding Tama County burglary warrants and is being held at the Tama County Jail.
The Marshalltown Police Department has filed the following charges against Moore,
- Theft Second Degree
- Burglary Third Degree
- Theft Third Degree
- Violation Sex Offender Registry, 2 counts
- Attempted Burglary Third Degree
- Criminal Mischeif Third Degree
- Possession Burglary Tools
- Criminal Mischeif Fourth Degree
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
The Marshalltown Police Department say the investigation is still active and more arrests are expected.
