Welcome rainfall added up to amounts of over an inch in parts of southeast Iowa Thursday and Friday. Fortunately, lows stayed above freezing in affected areas and didn’t create travel issues. Your weather timeline takes you into a breezy Saturday and warm Sunday as we move into February.

Saturday will be a breezy one, especially during the afternoon hours. We may also see some light rain or drizzle during the evening hours in parts of central Iowa. Any snowfall would be confined to the far north and northeast. Sunday looks to be a day to get outside!

Extended outlooks keep us in slightly below-normal temperatures and normal to slightly above-normal precipitation. It does appear that snow chances will increase as we move toward the middle of the month.

Extended models want to give us slight chances for light snow during the Wednesday through Saturday window NEXT week. We will keep you updated, as it seems snowfall wants to be elusive in central Iowa this winter!
