DES MOINES, Iowa — The first female President of Hy-Vee, Inc., has retired.
Donna Tweeten joined the billion-dollar, Iowa-based grocery chain in 2006 and eventually took the top leadership position in 2022.

“No one has shaped the Hy-Vee brand with such skill, precision and creativity more than Donna Tweeten,” said Jeremy Gosch, Hy-Vee’s chairman and CEO. “Throughout her career, Donna has served as an innovator, trailblazer, and creative thinker in nearly every aspect of Hy-Vee’s operations. There’s no doubt that her influence will be felt across Hy-Vee for decades to come.”
During her tenure, the Drake University alum reportedly guided Hy-vee’s brand and image strategies, helped it to double in size and led it to become the first retailer to sign a name, image, likeness (NIL) contract with Caitlin Clark.

According to a release from the chain, in her retirement, which was effective Friday, January 24, Tweeten plans to be a consultant and mentor to others.
