$650K granted to northwest Iowa trail project

ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KCAU) — A federal recreational trails program project in northwest Iowa is getting funding.

Iowa DOT officials said they approved $650,000 for the Estherville River Recreation Enhancement Project. The total cost of the project is an estimated $1.3 million.

DOT officials said the trails program is designed to develop and maintain recreational trails and trail-related facilities for motorized and non-motorized trail users.

The Iowa Transportation Commission has approved $1,620,475 for different trails in Iowa. You can view all these trails below.

  • Estherville River Recreation Enhancement Project (Estherville) – $650,000
  • Iowa River’s Edge Trail: Bridge Improvements (Hardin County) – $438,475
  • Off-Highway Vehicle Park Equipment (Iowa Department of Natural Resources) – $272,000
  • Snow Trail Maintenance Equipment (Iowa State Snowmobile Association) – $260,000

The project is also sponsored by the city of Estherville.
