Even colder air then a chance for snow in the weather this week in Central Iowa

DES MOINES, IOWA — It has been a tad warmer on this MLK/Inauguration Day, but still very cold. Your weather timeline takes you through a brutal overnight into improved Wednesday weather:

A cold weather advisory has been issued for southern Iowa, and a cold weather warning for the north as wind chills will drop to -20 to -40 by early Tuesday morning.

Lows and wind chills will fall into dangerous territory late tonight and early Tuesday. Be careful out there!

Milder air moves into Iowa on Wednesday, and light snow along with it. In general, amounts around central Iowa should fall in the 0.1″ to 1″ range. This far out, pay less attention to the placement of the snow on computer models and more attention to the potential. We’ll keep you updated.

Thursday may bring flurries into Iowa. Our milder temperatures look to continue into the weekend.
