DES MOINES, Iowa — With the 119th Congress being put to work on Capitol Hill, Iowa’s Third Congressional District Congressman Zach Nunn is already looking into corruption. Nunn spoke with the media Friday about a package of bills he calls anti-corruption legislation.

Nunn is looking to pass the No Corruption in Government Act, which looks to prohibit members from insider trading, bans members from becoming lobbyists, and ends automatic pay raises.

Nunn also introduced his Back to Work Act, requiring federal employees to return to in-person work.

“Six agencies in specifically were absent 91% of the time. No one in Iowa doesn’t show up for work 91% of the time. No farmer in Iowa gets to phone it in, no busy mom gets to say ‘Hey, I’m going to be absent from work’ 91% of my day,” Nunn said.

Nunn went on to say that Washington could take a page out of Iowa’s book.

“Run Washington like a family business or a family farm would do,” he said. “We’ve done it in Iowa and have seen our economy grow. These are the types of proven practices that we can take to Washington, and we know they work because we have seen them work here in Iowa.”

Nunn said that while Washington has good people, these bad practices are keeping the focus off of what he called the important things — the voters and the American people.
