Forecast: Light snow chances this week

With sunshine we’ve seen temperatures a few degrees warmer than yesterday, but it’s still been a chilly Wednesday. Your weather timeline takes you through a light snow chance and into Friday.

A front moving across the state late Thursday into Friday will touch off some light snow. As you see in the images below, amounts won’t be impressive, but we could see enough snow in spots to create some slick spots, especially during the morning hours on Friday. We may also see flurries linger into the early afternoon on Friday.

A second snow chance comes to Iowa late Saturday into Sunday as another system moves through the upper Midwest. We may see a little light snow late Saturday night and another area of light snow Sunday evening. At this early point, it appears any appreciable accumulations will occur north of Highway 20 during this timeframe. It will also be windy Sunday, reducing visibilities. We’ll keep you updated.

Turning to temperatures, it’ll be another chilly one tonight. Highs do get a little bit milder through Sunday, then turn colder as we move into next week.

The extended graphics below point to continued chilly temperatures as we head through the next two weeks.
