Two men charged with felonies following overnight burglary

DES MOINES, Iowa — The Des Moines Police Department arrested two men on multiple felony charges following a burglary that took place overnight.

At approximately 3:16 a.m., DMPD 1st Watch patrol officers responded to the 3300 block of East Euclid Avenue on a burglary alarm located in a commercial business.

Once officers arrived on scene, they identified evidence of a burglary, but suspects were not on scene. Additional officers began searching the area.

Officers followed tracks in the snow leading them to a wooded area north of the scene, where a tent was located. DMPD officers announced themselves and two men ran from the scene but were captured a short distance later.

Officers found lottery tickets on both men and located more lottery tickets and cigarettes inside the tent. These items were identified by the owner as property that was taken during the burglary.

David Charles Fisher, 49 is charged with:

  • burglary – third degree
  • theft – second degree
  • theft of lottery ticket – eight counts
  • interference with official acts.

47-year-old Troy Dean Lorenz is charged with:

  • burglary – third degree
  • theft – second degree
  • theft of lottery tickets – 11 counts
  • interference with official acts
  • probation violation warrant.

Both Fisher and Lorenz were taken to the Polk County Jail.
